5 x new restaurants in The Hague

Which restaurants should you definitely put on your 'must visit' list? We found out!

1. Beach house Mavi

The former Pier 32 was taken over this year by new owners Martine and Bram Wooning. They had been watching the stretch of beach behind De Savornin Lohmanlaan for a long time and finally made their move. Beach house Mavi should become a home for Hagenaars and Hagenezen who want to escape the busy Scheveningen life. By focusing on real high-quality food, Martine and Bram hope their beach house will stand out from the many others. The menu includes dishes like a 'hotdogtupus', or squid sandwich, as well as vegan scallops made from mushrooms and noodle soup.

2. Restaurant Harper

Alongside Hague businesses Jamey Bennett and Barlow, owners Michael Tilkema, Melvin van der Meer, Kevin Gerrits and Piet Scholtes are jointly opening a new restaurant: Restaurant Harper, located in a monumental building on the Plaats in the city centre. The four men are joining forces to make the huge building feel like an intimate restaurant. They cook with fresh and seasonal ingredients, in traditional cooking styles with a modern, special twist. This results in dishes like smoked salmon with yuzu and purple cauliflower, crispy risotto with lamb, mint and mango and peanut ice cream with caramel and popcorn.

3. Mi Tera restaurant

Caribbean flavours on the Denneweg. That is what Restaurant Mi Tera stands for. The former Ruiseñor was transformed into something completely new by owners Alberto Nol and Oona Palacios. The two gentlemen know each other from working together in the kitchen of restaurant Queru. Now they are combining flavours from across the Caribbean in their own establishment. From Mexico to Jamaica and Aruba. So at Mi Tera, you will taste beef ribs with a tomatillo sauce, pork chop with corn pudding and banana leaf wrapped chicken with prunes, onion and capers.

4. Vincenzo's Scheveningen

Owners Vincenzo Kramer and Yaron Menneken of the well-known Vincenzo's will open their fifth (!) Italian restaurant on Gentsestraat in July. The concept remains the same: artisanal pizzas with surprising flavours, good service and an approachable, accessible atmosphere. The new location on Scheveningen is a welcome addition!

5. KLUB

KLUB does not have its own business, but it knows better than anyone what good food and a cosy evening mean. The two young entrepreneurs Sofia Melis and Daniela Fialova organise culinary and creative pop-ups at original (The Hague) locations. For instance, they recently realised a seven-course dinner with party in collaboration with Club Laak, located in Laakkwartier. So keep a close eye on their Instagram. You never know when the next culinary feast is planned!
