Jasper Gramsma

The editors of Bij Ons In De Residentie on golden tips, guilty pleasures and special shops. This week: editor Jasper Gramsma.

Favourite restaurant:

Surely that must Pastis are: heart of Paris in the Hague's Hofkwartier district. Spartan sofas, weathered mirrors to spy on your neighbours and a map that has survived every fashion.

Being Pastis: heart of Paris in the Court Quarter

Guilty pleasure:

Scouring thrift shops for old Christmas LPs, even if it's the middle of summer. The sweeter, the better.

Picnicking in the Palace Garden

Holidays in your own city:

Picnic in the Palace Garden! Bring clothes, a simple meal and secretly an ice-cold bottle of rosé too. And then stay put until the sun goes down.

The nicest tips from The Hague from our editors: photographer Fleur Beemster

Golden tip:

For glasses or lenses, visit the opticians at Hofstede Optiek in Hoogstraat. I discovered them when I had an eye problem and they helped me perfectly.

Special shop:

Toy shop HoutSage

Since more and more children are being born in my area, I visit HoutSage toy shop quite often. The craft items are all equally beautiful and stimulate the imagination much more than all that plastic.

Hague nature:

Can that also be Wassenaar? Meijendel makes me very happy. Dunes, puddles, woods, plains and the murmur of the sea. That variety makes walking a pleasure.

Which Hague resident would you like to have/want to interview on camera again?

If I could, I would love to speak to the writer Simon Carmiggelt again. His way of looking at things and the humour he drew from everyday situations inspire me.
