Herman Jansen

The editors of Bij Ons In De Residentie on golden tips, guilty pleasures and special shops. This week, managing editor Herman Jansen.

Favourite restaurant:

Catch by Simonis: always tasty, atmospheric and nice. Great view.

Encore by Simonis is located on the Second Harbour

Guilty pleasure:

Strawberry gelatine pudding with vanilla custard on top and tangerine slices plus juice from a can.

Kijkduin

Holidays in your own city:

Kijkduin is also becoming old-fashioned cosy again after all the high-rise new buildings.

Golden tip:

Café Happy End, 'a little piece of Amsterdam Jordaan in The Hague'. On Prinsestraat near the Palace Garden. Always a party.

Special shop:

Avonturia De Vogelkelder, the largest pet shop in the Netherlands. Also suitable for school excursions.

Hague nature:

Meer en Bos estate: hidden, intimate, with lots of variety, many birds and a small lake. Dogs are still allowed to run loose there.

Which Hague resident would you like to have/want to interview on camera again?

Queen Máxima.
