Success with a touch of boldness: BOIDR launches thirteenth edition in style
Amazed looks upon entering Office1643. "How nice, I didn't know this at all." For many guests attending the launch of the 13th edition of The Hague magazine Bij Ons In De Residentie (BOIDR) last Thursday, it was a first introduction to the recently opened cocktail bar on Prinsegracht. Co-owner Sergii Alieksieiev had created a special BOIDR cocktail especially for the occasion: Peace & Justice. Which was highly appreciated.

Ladies with an attitude
During her speech, editor-in-chief Annerieke Simeone talked about the cover choice entitled Ladies with an attitude. Inspired by Madonna's song Vogue, it features seven strong businesswomen from The Hague. Like Jacqueline van der Zwan, hospitality director, who considers emotional intelligence as important as business skills. Together with two lecturers, she developed the new learning line Employability Skills, which enables ROC Mondriaan students to grow personally.
Marije Tolman
Or Azra Secerbegovic, who is conquering the Dutch beauty industry with her passion for botany and entrepreneurship and is ready to break through internationally. And anyone who thinks you will walk out of cosmetic doctor Magali van der Made with overly full lips is wrong. "I don't fight age; I believe in 'positive ageing'," she says.
Of course, Jennifer Pielage, general manager of two upcoming hotels in The Hague, Townhouse The Hague and The Ald, is not missing either.
The first copy of this edition was handed over to another strong woman: multi-award-winning illustrator Marije Tolman, known for such children's books as Vosje, Egalus and Flappie.
RE:BORN
But BOIDR, Simeone revealed, does not only target women. The magazine also features inspiring men who contribute to The Hague's good life. Like star chef Erik Tas, who gives culinary advice to Duncan Bond, the new general manager of Hotel Indigo. Or Saman Mohammadi and Raouf Jarmo of RE:BORN, who bought the Pier out of idealism. 'The Hague is close to our hearts,' they say in their interview. Besides the Pier, they are also transforming the historic Spaansche Hof on Westeinde, including a new wine bar.
And then there is Daniel Moesker, expert in bespoke jewellery and unusual natural history objects. He travels the world in search of unique finds, preferably together with his girlfriend and gemologist Afa. Together, they run a new shop on Papestraat.
Whether men or women, all these people are a perfect fit for At Us In The Residence. They follow their dreams and work their way to the top with determination and flair.
Kingstreet
Talking about dreams: publisher Media Fresca had long had ambitions to launch an international sister of Bij Ons In De Residentie. With more than 100,000 internationals in the city, this was a logical step, Simeone informed. "That dream has now become a reality. Kingstreet, as the new magazine is called, focuses specifically on the international community and tells their stories about the good life in The Hague."

And the publisher had another piece of news: from 2026, the name Bij Ons In De Residentie will change to Kingstreet Den Haag. "From then on, we will then have both a Dutch and an international version of Kingstreet.
