Gems of the Denneweg and Frederikstraat

Kingstreet Magazine has been working from coworking space Clockwise on the Koninginnegracht for over a month now. During lunch or after work, we enjoy strolling and spending time on the Denneweg and Frederikstraat. Curious about our favourite spots?

G.B. Spadafora

Italian jewellery that tells a story

The jewellery at G.B. Spadafora is at times almost sculptural. Owner Monica Spadafora will always treat you to an espresso while sharing stories about her family’s designs inspired by the Calabrian region. What stood out to us was the craftsmanship with soul – the kind of pieces you wear as a statement or pass down as heirlooms. Take your time to explore the collection in this charming little boutique.

De Gouden Ton

Kom maar door met die wijn

We love wine. And at De Gouden Ton it’s easy to find a bottle that suits you even if you’re not a connoisseur. We asked co-owner Sarah Visser about her favourite. “I enjoy a slightly older Riesling. We work with Heymann-Löwenstein from the Mosel. They let the grapes ripen longer – golden in the glass super aromatic with notes ranging from white peach to roasted coffee. A wine full of intrigue.”

Goed Volck

Traditional with a twist

Creamy lobster soup with Dutch shrimp brioche topped with eel and crème fraîche. Yes we enjoyed another great meal at Goed Volck, the brainchild of chef Marcel van der Kleijn. He and his team serve classic dishes with a modern twist. It’s a welcoming place even if you’re just popping in for a glass of wine and a small bite from the menu.

Oogst

Embracing what nature has to offer

Another restaurant by Van der Kleijn and awarded a Bib Gourmand. At Oogst you choose from a menu that flows with the seasons. We went for the scallops with Pata Negra and maple syrup and the Corvina fillet with bouillabaisse and saffron potatoes. The staff gave us great explanations for each dish along with perfectly matched wines.

HOF Fashion

We’re really into the Instagram stories of Stephanie van Kats owner of Hof Fashion. Her shop is just like her: cheerful and colourful. Jewellery shoes bags and of course clothing. You’ll find brands here you don’t see everywhere along with honest and relaxed advice. If you’re unsure about your style Stephanie will help you find your way.

Interior styling with confidence and charm

HOF House of Furniture, parels Denneweg & Frederikstraat

After HOF Fashion Stephanie and her husband Laurens wanted to offer something special for interior enthusiasts as well. We’re really keen to have the Globo Table Lamp by Jonathan Adler on our desk. Just need to save up a little longer…

Calla's, parels Denneweg & Frederikstraat

Horse mackerel with Joguet Spéciales oyster ajoblanco and Perle Imperial caviar.

Just behind Denneweg on the quiet Laan van Roos en Doorn you will find restaurant Calla’s. At number 51 chef Ronald van Roon a member of Les Patrons Cuisiniers and hostess Bianca Fellinger form the heart of this refined establishment. Since 2002 Calla’s has been the only Michelin starred restaurant in The Hague. The cuisine is classic French with fresh daily ingredients and vegetables from their own garden in Wassenaar. The interior designed by FG Stijl is serene and contemporary featuring marble aluminium and soft fabrics. Calla’s remains a gem for those seeking an exceptional dining experience.
