'Hopefully, we are giving entrepreneurs heart in these difficult times'
She had come by bicycle to the Scheveningen harbour to receive the annual magazine for entrepreneurs In the Residence.
Richard de Mos
The D66 politician, whose connection to The Hague is mainly her husband who grew up in the residence, has had a turbulent time in City Hall. Aldermen Richard de Mos and Rachid Guernaoui, the latter a former party colleague, had to resign on suspicion of corruption and mayor Pauline Krikke left because of excessive New Year's fires.
Johan Remkes
"Yes it was intense and then now the corona crisis again," underlines the councillor. "But fortunately we now have Johan Remkes temporarily and he is doing a fantastic job." The former minister and former nitrogen advisor is leaving in the summer. There is busy speculation about his successor. Among others, Nijmegen mayor Hubert Bruls is mentioned.
Bij Ons In De Residentie
"The intention was to hand over the first copy here at a cosy reception," sighed publisher Annerieke Simeone of Bij Ons In De Residentie, standing in front of the closed fish restaurant Encore by Simonis. "But unfortunately, due to the coronavirus, we have to do it outside, without invitees." The shiny annual magazine that Annerieke took over from founder and author Gijsbert Spierenburg last year is about 75 years of liberation and about young entrepreneurs from The Hague. "Hopefully, by doing so, we give them a boost in these difficult times."
