Hostesses and More
Highest level of hospitality at Hostesses and More
'Sometimes it's just time for a little More,' says the site of Hostesses and More. 'More' with a capital letter, because Meriam Janssen runs more than just an agency for hostesses.
Meriam Janssen runs more than just an agency for hostesses. She can also hire receptionists, hostesses and event managers for companies. More' also stands for quality.
Business card
"You are the calling card of an organisation. I have learnt a lot from the past. Therefore, the external care has to be perfect. We are professionals and radiate that too." When out and about, her employees always wear the same La Dress dresses and even the same earrings if required.

What else sets Hostesses and More apart? "Guests are seen when they come in. We train ourselves constantly. Even in small things that we take for granted, such as which coat someone is wearing. If people have difficulty walking, we ask security to signal when it is break time, so that we are ready to meet them at the door.
'Nobody faces any surprises with me'
We are constantly alert to what is happening in the area." Prior to the assignment, Janssen's ladies receive information about the client's company, the location in question and the content of the assignment. "Nobody faces any surprises with me," she says.
Hostesses and More
If you work with Hostesses en Meer, you can count on short lines of communication. Janssen: "Sometimes I get a call the evening before for an assignment. I know exactly which ladies are available and who is suitable for which job." Her pool mainly includes hostesses with a lot of experience. She also works with a number of younger ladies, often from the Hotel School. Freelancers who really enjoy the hospitality profession, Janssen says.
Mauritshuis
But the search for new talent never stops. "Your network can't be big enough. There is a lady from Venlo who works for me. Here in The Hague, we work with the Mauritshuis and Mercedes-Benz, among others, but most contacts are elsewhere in the country."
Or even beyond that.
'This work is usually a party'
Big, international trade shows are on the programme every year. Those are also fun to do. "They are long days, but it is incredibly interesting. Before the fair, we go through the scripts; we know exactly what a company stands for. However good our language skills are, we still go through the company's technical terms."
Cake
After a major event, Janssen regularly receives a thank-you email from the organising company, sometimes even with flowers or a cake. "When I get home in the evening, I often feel energised and happy. This work is usually a celebration. It is so nice to really be of value and add something for your client. When you are then also appreciated like this, yes, that really gives me a kick."
