Around The Corner: Kijkduin
There is no accounting for taste, so anyone who thought the old Kijkduin was really out of step with the times is just as right as someone who thinks New Kijkduin is too high, too modern and too expensive. But if you want to turn a limited, rag-tag family seaside resort into a healthy four-season resort, you cannot avoid high residential flats. After all, you need those many residents in addition to the tourists to make the new shops and restaurants profitable.

There is still a lot under construction and Kijkduin's successful beach pavilions are on winter break, but even now there is plenty to enjoy on Deltaboulevard and Deltaplein. In food court the Daily Taste, you even have everything under one roof: a supermarket (Coop), a toko (Warung Mini) and many crafts that provide fresh coffee, meat, fish, vegetables, ice cream and meals.
Perfumery Kijkduin
Sometimes you have to wait the longest for the tastiest: in March Natascha Leijendekkers will open Perfumery Kijkduin. Her slogan is: 'A magical team is the beating heart of your shop, with it you touch the heart of the customer.' As an experience, she grants everyone 'a day at Kijkduin with all the trimmings. So also shopping with a beauty experience.
The Wine House Kijkduin
An instant hit was The Wine House, a unique combination of a restaurant, a tasting room, a wine bar and a wine shop. Robust, chic and international. Reservations are often required, food can also be eaten at the bar and the music makes itself heard. The menu features all kinds of things: oysters, sushi flat, sole, grilled tuna steak, prawns, seafood flat, chateaubriand, beef tataki, tacos and so on. Its success occasionally leads to long waiting times.
Crafthouse
Hülya de Bruine also had such a sense of beauty and sustainability as a business expert that she started a luxury home and lifestyle shop in Kijkduin in 2022. And now she serves many customers at home and abroad with her (world) products, advice and designs apart from Kijkduiners. Everything is future-proof. In the mini-studio in her boutique, De Bruine also embroiders precious embellishments on her own bag line Très Paris.
Pavarotti Kijkduin
The people of Pavarotti call themselves 'the Italians of la dolce vita'. To do so, they have no less than 1,500 square metres on the promenade for the restaurant, wine bar, a unique aquarium ('shark tank'), a huge open kitchen, a pasta laboratory, karaoke rooms, an ice cream shop and an outdoor terrace. From early morning to late at night, you can go there for freshly prepared Italian specialities. Yes, also vegetarian, gluten-free and halal.
Taste of Kijkduin
Who thinks Taste of Kijkduin is just a fancy snack bar, never makes that mistake again after its first order, on the spot or online. The welcoming lunch restaurant offers very special and delicious snacks and dinners, also 'to go'. Meal salads, burger menus, schnitzels, satay and steaks are not lacking, but the 'patatje rendang' is also highly recommended. Holland and India deliciously combined, and one portion is often enough as a quick snack for two adults.
Wagamama Kijkduin
Eat positively, then live positively. That's the philosophy of Asian restaurant Wagamama, where they make simple, balanced soul food every day in their open kitchen. Think noodles or rice with high-quality proteins and good fats, lots of crunchy vegetables, spices and steaming broths. Chicken, beef, duck, curries, try some of these and others. The drinks and desserts also make a healthy impression.
