'Annerieke makes Hague glossy'
It will be released at the end of November; the first English-language glossy about The Hague. Its creator is Annerieke Simeone, who also makes the magazine Bij Ons In De Residentie.
Annerieke likes to show her city the way she likes it best: she shares the most beautiful restaurants, shops and cultural events she finds in The Hague with the readers of her annual glossy. And now she is adding an English-language magazine. "It is called Kingstreet and is especially for all internationals in the city," she says. As editor-in-chief of two Hague glossies and her own media company, Annerieke is busy with language and images every day. "Language is very important to me. My father is Italian and didn't speak Dutch very well. I noticed at such a young age that you have to speak a language well, it makes life a lot easier."
On its own feet
Annerieke came to work at The Hague Central magazine via via. "First on the editorial staff and later as chief. I had a great time there for 15 years." Five years ago, Annerieke became publisher and editor-in-chief of the Hague glossy Bij Ons In De Residentie. "That was then just a magazine. To make that bigger, I started a website, newsletter and special networking dinners."
"To make it bigger, I started a website, newsletter and special networking dinners."
Four years back, she thoroughly updated the corporate identity. "From font to design, but the themes are the same: culinary, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, business, art and culture. The magazine focuses entirely on the good life in The Hague. You only read positive stories from big companies and small entrepreneurs and new businesses in Bij Ons In De Residentie.
Since the beginning of this year, Annerieke has been completely on her own. "I started Media Fresca, which means 'fresh media'. It is my own company through which I make Bij Ons In De Residentie. I thought: if I don't start for myself now, I'll never do it again."
English-language glossy
With her own company, Annerieke has big plans. "This English-language Hague glossy is the first step. The first issue of Kingstreet will be published at the end of this month. The content is partly different from Bij Ons In De Residentie. For instance, other people are featured, such as Catherine De Bolle, director of Europol, and our mayor Jan van Zanen. It is not a one-to-one translation."

Kingstreet will soon be at the annual bookshops available. Besides the two glossies, Media Fresca now also produces commissioned publications for other parties. Annerieke: "We now produce books and magazines for the municipality and hotels, for example."
Keep moving
Together with her team, Annerieke changes offices every three months. "That keeps us fresh. If I have my mobile, laptop and charger, I can work anywhere and at each location I get new ideas." She also has a wish for the future of her company: "I think it would be great to bring Bij Ons In De Residentie to Amsterdam."
