Reset Spa: Alles om te resetten

For Jennifer Visée, relaxation runs like a thread through her life. When the owner of Reset Spa once saw queues forming for salt baths at another resort, she wondered: why not offer them one-on-one, so everyone gets their own bath? And with that, the idea for a wellness centre was born.

Opened in 2024, Reset Spa is located less than a hundred metres from The Hague’s city centre. Yet the contrast with the outside world couldn’t be greater. The moment you close the door of Brouwersgracht 4 behind you, the cacophony of traffic abruptly stops. No more rattling trams and grumbling motorbikes. Peace. And that’s exactly what we’re here for. “Some guests look out the window after their float session and end up staying for a cup of tea,” says Jennifer Visée (38) with a smile. The owner, who also runs a wellness centre by the same name in Naaldwijk, has long made relaxation a key part of her life. At eighteen, she worked briefly as a beautician at a resort. “The scents of eucalyptus and lavender, the calm atmosphere—it really stayed with me. I’d often go in on a quiet Sunday evening. That was pure bliss.”

Owner Jennifer Visée: “After an hour of floating, my mind feels clear and I can focus again."

Wellness

Later, she noticed how popular salt baths were becoming. “People were queueing up for them. I thought: why not offer that as a private experience, so everyone has their own bath? That’s far more relaxing.” She found a specialist builder in Friesland, wrote a business plan, and created a mood board for the architect. When a building on Secretaris Verhoeffweg 17b in the heart of Naaldwijk became available, the deal was done within six months.

The float cabins at Reset Spa are automatically sterilised.

In 2019, she opened the first Reset Spa with two float rooms and two wellness rooms, equipped with a Finnish sauna, an infrared cabin, a steam room and a whirlpool. The Hague location doesn’t include those wellness features, but it does have five floating cabins. Why so many? “We’ve had virtually no competition for years, especially not in the Haaglanden region,” Visée explains. “All the float centres that once existed are now gone. In Naaldwijk, we always had a waiting list—sometimes up to two weeks long. Expansion was really needed.”

Floaten

The two main reasons Reset Spa stands out from its few competitors? Hygiene and cabin design. “One of the first questions people ask us before their first float session is: ‘Can I stand up inside if I need to?’ That’s a dealbreaker for many,” says Visée. “Most float centres use pods—what I call ‘eggs’—where the lid closes once you’re lying down. Some people find that claustrophobic. At Reset Spa, there’s two metres of space above your head.” The cabins are automatically sterilised. “This happens during the 30-minute window when guests are showering and getting dressed, so the next person always steps into a clean bath.” Water quality is also closely monitored by a government-certified laboratory. “Their inspectors show up unannounced, but so far, everything has gone smoothly.”

Magnesium

So, the two big questions: what exactly is floating, and what does it do for you?

“Floating means immersing yourself in a bath filled with 100% natural magnesium crystals, which are absorbed through the skin,” explains Visée. “Regular floating offers a wide range of benefits, from reducing stress to relieving pain.” She takes a sip of her smoothie. “Did you know that one hour of floating is equivalent to five hours of sleep, thanks to the deep relaxation it provides? It can also speed up recovery after physical exertion, help with anxiety and depression, and boost concentration. I really noticed that recently—after an hour-long session, I was able to set clear priorities again.” Because floating can be beneficial for people with conditions like arthritis, rheumatism or burnout, Reset Spa offers a discounted medical pass. A referral from a doctor or physiotherapist is required. Athletes also benefit from salt baths. “Magnesium helps keep the muscles supple and reduces inflammation. That’s why it’s a regular part of the training routine for footballers from clubs like Manchester United and Glasgow Rangers.”

“Did you know that one hour of floating is equivalent to five hours of sleep?”

Pregnant women also find it helpful. “Floating makes you feel weightless. Your spine is relieved of pressure, and thanks to the gentle buoyancy, you don’t feel your own weight—or the baby’s,” she says. And if mobility is an issue, a staff member can help you in and out of the bath.

In addition to floating, Reset Spa offers a range of massages on request. And if you want to extend that feeling of calm, you’re welcome to sit with a cup of tea indoors or on the new terrace. Or order a high tea or sharing board. The name says it all: here, you’ve got everything you need to reset.
