7 x fine outdoor spots in The Hague
It's summer time! These are our 7 favourite outdoor spots and activities in the court city and surrounding areas that you should definitely visit:
1. Villa Ockenburgh
If you keep a close eye on our social media (and we hope you do!) you will know that we have mentioned outdoor spot Villa Ockenburgh many times before. That's for good reason. This outdoor spot has a restaurant in a beautifully renovated villa and a greenhouse serving dishes from its own vegetable garden. Ockenburgh country estate is surrounded by greenery. The Kabouterpad (gnome trail) was recently opened: a walk and treasure hunt where children learn about nature while playing. Highly recommended!
2. Pluk! The Hague
When you are in the Ockenburgh area anyway, it is no punishment to make a small diversions to Pluk! The Hague. A beautiful, peaceful setting in the middle of nature. You come here for a cup of coffee or an organic snack of the day. Also nice: they work with a harvest subscription. That way you can enjoy homegrown vegetables seasonally.
3. Outdoor breakfasts
Well, this is obviously not really about a permanent outdoor spot, but who cares! Aafke from Buitenontbijtjes provides a handmade outdoor breakfast every day at beautiful locations in The Hague. So one day you eat lime pie in Clingendael and the next day you treat yourself to fresh rolls and homemade jam while overlooking the sea. That's a nice local surprise.
4. Greens in the Park
On the edge of Westbroek Park, where you can just about smell the salty air of the North Sea, you will find restaurant Greens in the Park. Choose a table inside the greenhouse or settle down on the spacious terrace overlooking the care garden and the park itself. Greens' cuisine is local, organic and pure. And we love it. They also rent out electric boats here. That way, after a sumptuous lunch, you roll right into the boat and onto the water. Holiday feeling guaranteed.
5. Patagonia Beach
Sun, sea, sand, fresh air and good food. The perfect ingredients for a wonderful day out. Patagonia Beach, at the beginning of Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen, is the perfect beach club to get together with friends or family. They have a surprising menu here with really tasty dishes.
6. Op Hodenpijl
Op Hodenpijl is a burgundy outdoor spot in Schipluiden, The Hague's green neighbour. Here, too, they have a beautiful garden and a completely organic menu with original and healthy dishes. With beef and vegetables from their own stables, the fruit and herbs come from their own vegetable garden and greenhouse. With their sister company Honey Highway, they also dedicate themselves to wild bees.
7. Rooftop Bleyenberg
While enjoying a drink in the rootop bar of restaurant Bleyenberg, you look out over the lively Grote Markt and the city centre. If you are in a convivial mood after sipping the requisite cocktails, you can easily descend to the first floor where you can sing karaoke at their very own karaoke bar Blèr.
