6 x favourite terraces in The Hague

Our six favourite terraces in The Hague? These are guaranteed to be the place to be.

1 Capriole Café

Tucked away in an old, historic paint factory by the water is Capriole Café. The restaurant at Fokkerkade 18 (Binckhorst) has its own coffee roastery. On the sprawling waterfront terrace, a team of coffee lovers and connoisseurs will spoil you with the most diverse coffee specialities. From an espresso to a flat white and from a cappuccino brûlée to a coffee cocktail. Everything in Capriole Café breathes coffee, but you can also go there for lunch and dinner.

2 Restaurant The Quay

By the water, just south of the city centre, Restaurant De Kade at Wagenstraat 193 has one of The Hague's cosiest terraces. In a casual atmosphere, you will enjoy a wide range of natural wines and fine food there, prepared with fresh, local produce.

3 Grapes & Olives

Grapes & Olives on Veenkade is inspired by the simple wine bars of southern Italy where you can taste wines and delicacies from the area. It is a place where you meet people with a passion for food and wine. On the cosy terrace boat, floating in the canal of The Hague, you will enjoy Mediterranean regional dishes prepared with love.

Gastrovino La Liguria

On Gastrovino's terrace, the owners are having a great time.

4 Gastrovino La Liguria (Scheveningen)

At Gastrovino La Liguria on Hellingweg 199, restaurant, shop and caterer transport you to Italy for a while. You can go here for a cup of coffee, brunch, lunch, aperitivo and dinner with a Southern European twist. Inside it is gorgeous, but the real diamond is outside: the sprawling terrace in front of the monumental Sluiswachtershuis that houses Gastrovino.

The Harbour Club The Hague is located on the fifth floor of Bink36 in the Binckhorst.

5 The Harbour Club

Our list of the most beautiful outdoor spots in The Hague may include The Harbour Club definitely not missing. The restaurant is located on the fifth floor of BINK36. There you will indulge in delicious dishes and many kinds of drinks while overlooking the city. That's all a person needs.

Goed Volck, on the corner of Hooikadestraat/Denneweg.

6 Good Volck

Goed Volck, on the corner of Hooikadestraat/Denneweg, is an ode to the late 'night mayor of the Denneweg' Ron Goedvolk who, together with his wife Ariane, ran the famous catering establishment 's-Gravenhaagsche Eet- en Drinkinrichting. In the mid-1970s, it was the site of Tout La Haye. Such prominent figures from The Hague as businesswoman Sylvia Tóth, Soldier of Orange Erik Hazelhoff Roelfzema and film director Paul Verhoeven came to visit. Now it is a contemporary establishment of The Hague chef  Marcel van de Kleijn. On the terrace, we like the vegetable salad 'Laantje Voorham'with burrata and dried olive and the fillet of plaice with summer mash of Opperdoezer with turnip greens and shellfish sauce.
