4 x new businesses in The Hague
Entrepreneurial The Hague is not sitting still. Thankfully. These four cases have been added recently.
#1 GABRI
Vincenzo Kramer and Yaron Menneken, owners of the many Vincenzo's pizzerias in The Hague, have quietly renamed their Denneweg branch since mid-April. Not entirely new, then. But good enough to name again. The new name, Gabri - named after the first chef - also came about because you can't eat pizza here (anymore). The menu now offers a surprising combination of Italian dishes with Asian and Mexican influences. Our favourites? The candied artichoke heart with a creamy emulsion of egg yolk and the saffron risotto with oak tenderloin.
#2 NORVOLK
For two and a half years, Carla Visch lobbied to open Norvolk in the former harbour office of the Scheveningen Yacht Club. It is a Scandinavian lunchroom. Or rather, a Kafé & Brödstuga. The menu features köttbulle macka, räkmacka and bakad potatis. Er, what? A sandwich with minced meat, a prawn sandwich and a baked potato. And also try the smörgåstårta, a typical Swedish sandwich cake.

#3 NEW TAILOR
Recently, tailors Roel Wolbrink and Hans van Goch opened a new New Tailor branch on Aert van der Goesstraat. Two branches, one in Utrecht and one in Amsterdam, preceded this one. You visit New Tailor for truly tailor-made clothes, made by real tailors. Each garment is carefully designed and put together using unique patterns. Whether you are looking for a (wedding) suit, a jacket or a pair of jeans. It hardly gets any more personal.
#4 Nothing Basic
After a long, successful career supporting expats moving around the world, Tonya founded interior design shop and design studio Nothing Basic. With her label, Tonya helps people navigate the confusing real estate landscape and brainstorms on interior design. But apart from the big and compelling interior design projects, you also just come to Nothing Basic for the most beautiful interior items and furniture. It really is a treat to wander through this newly opened shop on Frederikstraat.
