3 x overnight stays - unusual hotels in The Hague
If we have to holiday in our own country, then surely The Hague, with its city and beach, is the ideal city for a staycation? We sought out three unusual Hague accommodations for you.
1. Boutique Hotel Corona
It does not have its name at the moment, but the renowned Boutique Hotel Corona happens to be in a prime spot: right in the heart of the city centre. Recently, the hotel has been remodelled.
"The old interior was not catchy enough," owner Emile Gassler explains during a tour. "You have to try to give guests something to take away with them, a story they can pass on. Brainstorming, we came up with the idea of dressing up the rooms with replicas of works of art."
The selection of the 72 paintings is modern and classical, but not every artist was considered. "We chose artists that everyone in the world knows, such as Klimt, Mondrian and Michelangelo. If you like a work, you can even reorder it, after which it will be delivered to your home anywhere in the world. An extra treat we have attached to the stay."

2. Carlton Beach Hotel
What a lovely view. The Carlton Beach Hotel is less than twenty paces from the beach. Sun, beach, Scheveningen.
Anyone opening the balcony doors will see what the seaside resort has to offer: a lively promenade on the one hand, the laidback pavilions of Zwarte Pad on the other. Inside, you are left with the beach feeling. The blue sea, the beige-white colours of the sand, the shells and beach grass, these maritime colours are reflected in the newly renovated rooms.
A conscious choice, says sales manager Nathalie Rosbergen. "We regularly get guests who book longer stays, then it's nice if you enter a room that exudes tranquillity."

3. Fine Hotels & Suites: Hotel Mozaic
Corina Waaijer loves beautiful places, art, good food, beautiful interiors and pampering people. "When running a hotel, it all comes together," says the director of Fine Hotels & Suites.
Stadsvilla Mozaic, beautifully located in the Archipel neighbourhood is truly a boutique hotel: small-scale accommodation in the chic Archipel neighbourhood of The Hague. Waaijer also has two more Delft gems: Casa Julia ('small and a bit bohemian') and Huis Blaauwen ('a cool, old armoury with references to its trading past with the East').
What they have in common: all sleeping places are a touch luxurious. "But no golden taps mind you, we do remain accessible," says Waaijer.
